This temple is renowned for curing people from various diseases, esp. skin related ailments. This is not a myth since many people have had positive results from praying to Lord Vaidyanathar here, and his consort, Thaiyal Nayaki. People suffering from skin problems, be it hives, rashes, boils, etc to skin diseases, pray to this Lord and after they are cured, they come here and dissolve common salt, jaggery, pepper available in temple premises or can be brought with us, in the temple pond which is inside the temple, known for this purpose alone. It is miraculous to see boils that have been present from a very long time which are painful, disappear overnight after praying to Him.
